Hey everyone it’s National Hot Dog Day! I love a good turkey dog with lots of ketchup on top, and sometimes relish! How do you dress your hot dog? Also, aren’t they so much better on the grill??

Here are 5 ways to celebrate National Hot Dog Day with your Pre-Kinders:

1. Hot Dog Beginning Sounds – Click here to download my free Hot Dog Beginning Sound Match! Students will match the picture to the correct beginning letter/sound.

2. Hello, Hot Dog Read Aloud – This is such a fun and silly story that students will absolutely love! My pre-kinders always ask me to read it again and again. 🙂

3. Hot Dog Stand Dramatic Play – Students will enjoy learning through play with their hot dog stand. I love this grill BBQ set from Melissa and Doug! It comes with hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, corn on the cob, and all the toppings you could ever want. I’m a huge fan of Melissa and Doug toys because they are always super durable. Students will enjoy grilling up hot dogs for their classmates. They can use this cash register to accept money from their customers. Children will also practice counting throughout this activity!

4. Hot Dog Toss – You can’t have hot dogs without baseball, right? Students will identify the picture on the foam baseball. Then, they’ll clap out the number of syllables in that word. Finally, they’ll toss it to their partner. They’ll repeat this process until they run out of baseballs.

5. Play Doh Hot Dogs – Students will practice making hot dogs using play doh. This will work on students fine motor skills as they manipulate the play doh. The children can also practice writing or stamping their name in the play doh, as well as identifying the different colors they use.

I hope y’all have a wonderful Wednesday!
